III. Credit Handling Guidelines
✅ For Course Credit Transfer applicants:
- If you apply for Credit Transfer only for one semester (2 credits), it will be counted as the first semester by default.
✅ For Course Exemption applicants:
- The credits will not count toward graduation if your original English course was a full academic year, and you only completed one semester. You must make up 4 credits based on your department’s policy.
- If the student completes a one-semester themed course, those credits can be counted toward graduation requirements.
IV. Required Documents (Paper Applications Only)
✅ For English Proficiency Test Applicants (Credit Transfer /Exemption):
Use the form titled "Application for Credit Transfer /Exemption of College English", and submit:
- Completed and signed application form
- Official English test certificate issued within the past three years (original, will be returned after verification)
- Submit documents in person at the Language Center (Room 308, 3rd Floor, Humanities Building)
✅ Upon successful application:
- Credit Transfer: 2 or 4 credits will count toward graduation.
- Exemption: To fulfill graduation credit requirements, students must make up 2 or 4 credits by taking additional courses assigned by their department (either in-department or outside-department).
V. Additional Notes
- Students who have already been granted exemption or credit transfer based on English proficiency test scores (excluding those using the result "Excellent" level in English on the General Scholastic Ability Test (GSAT) for the respective year and an A-level grade in the Test of English Listening Comprehension (TELC) for high school students administered by the College Entrance Examination Center.) do not need to apply for foreign language proficiency verification afterward, and cannot request a withdrawal of the credit transfer or exemption
- For exempted students, the department must arrange the 2 or 4 credits required to fulfill the graduation requirement.
The system cannot automatically determine which course replaces the English course; thus, the red flag for “General Education (Foreign Language)” will remain visible.
Please consult your department if you are unsure whether you meet the graduation credit requirements.
